DIVISION I

        • BOTH games in R1 are rematches from Week 7.
            • St. Ed’s Eagles (11-1)

                • LAST WEEK: Beat Massillon Jackson, 42-0

                • #1 overall in the Martin RPI against the toughest Strength of Schedule

                • beat St. Ignatius in W7, 48-6

                • Only loss was to Massillon Washington in W5, 31-28

                    • Had the craziest game of Week 11. Trailed at halftime 42-14 to Cleveland Heights

                    • Iggy scored 28 unanswered to start the 2nd half and the game was tied up at 42 with 10:48 to go.

                    • Heights QB Darreon Fair scored his 4th touchdown of the night to give Heights back the lead 49-42 with 1:16 to go.

                    • Ignatius then returned the ensuing kickoff for a TD, and completed a 2pt conversion to win 50-49.

            • LAST WEEK: beat Canton McKinley, 19-14
                • McKinley scored a TD with 1:10 remaining to take a 14-13 lead.

                • Mentor marched down the field and scored a 21-yd TD with 12 seconds left to go up 19-14 & get the victory.

            • Has one of the best DLineman in the country in senior Brenan Vernon, committed to Notre Dame.

        • #32 Olentangy Liberty vs. #13 Perrysburg

            • Olentangy Liberty Patriots (7-5)

                • LAST WEEK: Beat Dublin Jerome, 28-14
                    • One of 3 teams last week to beat a 1-seed

                    • Scored all 28 of its points in the first half

                • 12th toughest SoS in D1 (3rd toughest out of the D1 Columbus area schools behind Hilliard Bradley & Westerville Central)
                    • Lost 3 non-conference games in the first 3 weeks to Pick Central, Glenville, & St. Xavier

                • Had a negative ppg differential on the year, scoring 17.6 ppg but allowing 22 ppg.

            • Perrysburg Yellow Jackets (11-1)

                • LAST WEEK: beat Olentangy Berlin, 24-8

                • Lost season opener to Dublin Jerome, 24-21, and has won 11 straight since then

                • 3rd highest scoring team in D1 in regular season, putting up 44.7 ppg, but it was against the 65th toughest schedule in D1 out of 72 teams.

        • Springfield Wildcats (10-1)

            • LAST WEEK: beat Fairmont, 21-0
                • Fairmont was the only team to beat Springfield in the regular season

            • Springfield QB Bryce Schondelmyer was 1st Team All-Ohio QB & co-Offensive POY for Division SIX Arcanum last season before transferring to the Wildcats this offseason.

            • Plethora of D1 athletes all over the field, including WR Anthony Brown

        • Centerville Elks (10-2)

            • LAST WEEK: beat Marysville, 42-21
                • Centerville was trailing Marysville 21-17 late in the 3rd quarter before scoring 25 unanswered to take the 3-score victory.

            • 2nd best kicker in Ohio, 28th in the country (according to Kohl’s), Jackson Courville–broke legendary kicker Mike Nugent’s school FG record with a 55-yarder last week. Nugent’s record was 52.

            • Springfield beat Centerville in W8, 38-10, but Centerville starting QB Drake Wells was lost to injury during the W7 game.

            • Elks turned to sophomore QB Braylon Newcomb for his first start against Springfield when the Elks lost in W8. 

            • Newcomb has gotten a lot more comfortable at QB, and is more of a threat with his legs than the previous QB so adds another level to the offense

    • REGION 3:
        • #4 Gahanna Lincoln vs. #22 Pickerington Central

            • Gahanna Lincoln Lions (11-1)

                • LAST WEEK: beat Hilliard Bradley, 29-7
                    • Held Bradley to -14 rushing yards, 87 total yards, and forced 4 TO’s

                • Only loss was to Centerville in W3, 10-0

                • 6th in D1 in SoS

                • 7th in PPG Differential

                • 11th in scoring

                • 15th in SoS

            • Pickerington Central Tigers (9-3)

                • LAST WEEK: beat Pickerington North, 28-20
                    • 4th time in last 7 seasons that Pickerington Central beat North in the playoffs

                • #1 defense in D1, only allowing 9.0 ppg in the regular season

                • Lost to Gahanna in W5, 22-20

    • #16 Upper Arlington vs. #25 New Albany

        • Upper Arlington Golden Bears (10-2)

            • LAST WEEK: beat Westerville Central, 31-0
                • Starting QB James Hayek left the game due to injury, unsure if he’s playing this week

                • Backup Tommy Janowicz came in and finished with 19/25 for 204 yds and 2 TD’s

            • 4th best defense in D1, allowing just 10.6 ppg in regular season

            • If Pick Central beats Gahanna & Upper Arlington beats New Albany, it could set up a rematch of last year’s Region 3 Final that saw the Golden Bears beat the Tigers 21-14 in 3OT.

                • RB Christian Manville had 15 carries for 208 yds & 3 TD’s

            • Lost in the regional semifinals to Upper Arlington last season, 41-10

            • First year HC in Brian Finn, who’s been OC since 2013 and led New Albany to the 9th highest scoring offense (highest in D1) last year with 46.6 ppg.

    • REGION 4:
        • #2 Moeller vs. #11 Mason

            • Moeller Crusaders (11-1)

                • LAST WEEK: beat St. Xavier, 28-7
                    • Big time junior RB Jordan Marshall ran for 263 yards and 4 TD’s

                • Marshall now has 1,553 yards on the year in 11 games against some of the toughest teams in the state

                • 3rd toughest SoS in entire state

                • Only loss was to St. Ed’s in W9, 6-0

            • Mason Comets (10-2)

                • LAST WEEK: beat Springboro, 29-26
                    • Springboro led 26-14 with under 5 mins left in the game

                    • Mason QB Larson Brown threw TD passes of 40 yards to Chase Blevens and 37 yards to Braden Green in the final 5 minutes. The second one came with 50 seconds left to give them the 29-26 victory

                • 3rd best defense in D1, allowing just 10.2 ppg

                • Lost to Gahanna Lincoln in W1, 9-7 & W7 to Lakota West, 37-7

    • #3 Elder vs. #5 Lakota West

        • Elder Panthers (10-2)

            • LAST WEEK: beat Milford, 31-6

            • 2nd toughest SoS in the state

            • Lost by 3 to St. Ed’s in W4, lost to Moeller 42-14 in W7

            • Huge difference in SoS, as Lakota West played the 55th toughest out of 72 D1 teams.

                    • Fitch had the 5th highest scoring offense in D2. Previous low was 28 pts.

                    • RB D’Anthony Kelker had 15 carries for 178 yards and a TD

                • In W8 against Hoban, score was tied at 0-0 in the 3rd quarter before Hoban scored 21 straight in the next few minutes and into the beginning of the 4th qtr

                • Irish fought back to make it 21-14 with a few minutes to go, but Hoban was able to get another TD in the final minute from Lamar Sperling to seal the 28-14 victory.

                • First year HC Terry Cistone–son of longtime SVSM HC John Cistone.
                    • SVSM’s field is named after John Cistone, who coached at St. Vincent from ‘65-’71 and at SVSM from ‘72-’96 with 4 state championships.

    • #7 Riverside vs. #8 Hudson

        • Riverside Beavers (11-1)

            • LAST WEEK: beat Nordonia, 62-28
                • RB Jason Mackey had 17 carries for 178 yds & 3 TD’s in the FIRST HALF against Nordonia

            • First regional semifinal in school history.

            • Loaded with playmakers–Mackey, QB Mikey Maloney, WR Jake Elly, & WR Dez Kirks

            • Was the 12th-highest scoring team in D2 in the regular season (38.4 ppg)

            • followed that up with 63-6 and 62-28 wins in the playoffs, moving them up to the 2nd highest scoring team in D2 through 12 weeks behind Medina Highland.

            • Only team to beat Chardon in the last 3 years, beat them 21-7 in W4

        • Hudson Explorers (12-0)

            • LAST WEEK: beat Walsh Jesuit, 34-7
                • QB Jagger Pallay had 25 carries for 246 yards and 2 TD’s and RB Ian Ludwig had 35 carries for 183 yards and 3 TD’s

                • Walsh was the 2nd highest scoring team in D2 (43.2 ppg)

            • Hudson has the 5th best defense in D2–only allowed 14+ one time this year

            • Made the State Semifinals in 2014, 2015, & 2016 but lost all 3. Has never made it to the State Final.

                • LAST WEEK: Beat North Royalton, 35-14
                    • QB Sam DeTillio ran for 141 yards and passed for 156.

                    • Star junior RB Jakorion Caffey (grew up in Clyde and moved to Avon with his family in junior high) had 123 rush yards. He was 2nd-team All-Ohio as a sophomore last year.

                • Both teams have monster OT’s

                • LAST WEEK: beat Canal Winchester, 34-0
                    • HC Nate Moore passed the legendary Paul Brown (went 80-8-2 as HC from 1932-1940) for the most wins in school history with 81.
                    • You read that right–81 wins is the most wins by a single coach in Massillon history.  They’ve had 39 coaches dating back to 1893, and none of them have lasted longer than 9 seasons!

                    • Held Canal Winchester to 62 yards

                    • RB Willtrell Hartson had 20 carries for 142 yds & 3 TD’s

                • Rematch of last year’s regional semifinal where Massillon won, 38-0.

                • Primarily a run-heavy team, led by Hartson, who’s ran for 100+ yards in every game this year. On the season he has 1,609 yards and 26 TD’s

                    • Game was put away later in the 4th when Tyon Fountain sacked the Watkins Memorial QB, forcing a fumble that was recovered and returned for a TD by 4-star JR LB Garrett Stover

            • 2 losses this year are to Fitch & Akron SVSM. 3 big wins over Chaney, VASJ, & Mooney

            • 4 State Titles–three in a row from 2008-2010 & 2000.

    • REGION 10:
        • All Four teams in this Region only have a combined THREE Regional Championships. Holy Name, Mansfield Senior, & Padua all have 3 Regional titles, while Norton has never won a Regional Title.

            • Holy Name Green Wave (9-2)
                • LAST WEEK: beat Lutheran West, 20-10
                    • Has trailed by 10 in both playoff victories before coming back to win

                • One of the best LB’s in the State of Ohio in Mekhi Bradley
                    • Bradley was starting LB as a freshman when Mansfield Senior lost 2019 D3 State Title to Trotwood-Madison in overtime, 14-7

                    • Got his 300th career tackle last week in win over Defiance

                • Only losses were to Massillon & West Holmes in W3 & W4

                • Shutouts in 3 of the last 4 games

    • #51 Padua Franciscan vs. #30 Norton
        • Padua Franciscan Bruins (7-5)
            • LAST WEEK: beat Tiffin Columbian, 32-28
                • Biggest upset in the State to this point

                • Led 29-22. Columbian scored late in the game but Padua blocked the PAT to keep a 29-28 lead

                • Later added a FG to make it 32-28

                • Jr. Marquise Hall and Soph. Roderick Love combined for 26 carries & 305 yds

            • 26th toughest schedule in D3

            • Only Regional Championship was in 1979, when they lost the Class AAA State Title game to Moeller

                • QB Brogan Stephey had 241 total yards, 3 pass TD’s and 1 rushing TD

                • RB Charlie Schmiesing took 17 carries for 139 yards and two TD’s

            • Among D7 schools in regular season
                • Strength of Schedule: 22nd

            • Only losses were to Fort Loramie and the 3 big MAC schools (ML, New Bremen, Versailles)

            • 3-time State Champs (1989, 2014, 2017)
