O-G excited for chance to take on Kirtland and its nation-leading 54-game winning streak.

A second state semifinal in program history will take Ken Schriner’s Ottawa-Glandorf Titans to Clyde on Saturday night to face Buckeye State juggernaut Kirtland, which owns the nation’s longest winning streak at 54 straight wins.
The Hornets have won three straight state championships as they look to claim a fourth straight with two more victories.
“Great opportunity for us,” explained Schriner, who also took O-G to the state semifinals in 2009. “We view it as an exciting time to be playing in the state semis.”

O-G and Van Wert to meet while being part of logjam atop WBL standings

The marquee matchup of Ottawa-Glandorf visiting Van Wert will highlight the week six WBL slate.
The Titans and Cougars make up half of a logjam atop the WBL with four league teams standing 3-1 in league play.
“Midpoint of the season and we have four teams with one league loss,” said O-G headman Ken Schriner. “I’d consider that wide open and a great place to be. Each week has been very competitive and any team is capable of knocking off another.”
Van Wert had an 11-game winning streak dating back to last year snapped in a 21-14 setback to St. Marys last Friday. The Cougars captured the D-IV state championship last season, with their only loss all year coming in a 35-34 setback to O-G in week five last year.
The last four meetings between the WBL foes have been barnburners and decided by a combined 16 points.

O-G looking to get off 0-2 mat against 2-0 Elida

Ottawa-Glandorf will try to get off the mat following back-to-back losses to open the season against an Elida team that has not allowed any points thus far.
“Continuing to emphasize the basics that we practice every day and those basics being utilized on the field on Friday nights,” said longtime O-G mentor Ken Schriner of where his team needs to keep improving. “Elida is very athletic and well coached. They have sound schemes that present problems on both sides of the ball.”
