No. 1 Archbold looking for another outright NWOAL crown; PH trying to play spoiler

A second consecutive outright NWOAL crown is on the line for host Archbold on Friday night as Patrick Henry comes to town looking to play spoiler.
The 9-0 and top-ranked D-VI Streaks (6-0 NWOAL) shared the league title with Liberty Center in 2019. The Tigers will need to take care of business at home against Delta and have rival PH pull off the upset of the Streaks to earn a piece of the league crown.

Henry County rivals set for elimination game in NWOAL championship hunt

Henry County rivals Patrick Henry and Liberty Center will play an NWOAL championship elimination game Friday at LC’s Rex Lingruen on the turf of Kip Kern Field.
Both teams head into the clash at 3-1 in the NWOAL while Wauseon also stands 3-1 in the league. Top-ranked Archbold is in the NWOAL driver’s seat at 4-0 and after facing 0-7 Swanton this week, the Streaks cap the season with a trip to Wauseon next week and a home game to round out the regular season with PH.

PH trying to keep pace with Archbold; Wauseon looking to remain in NWOAL title hunt

Patrick Henry will look to keep pace with NWOAL frontrunner Archbold while Wauseon is looking to stay in the mix for a piece of the league championship with the Patriots coming to town on Friday night.
PH tallied 21 fourth-quarter points last week to overcome a 14-7 deficit at home against Bryan for a 28-14 win. The victory kept the Patriots unbeaten in the NWOAL with four games left.
“I think our offensive line did a much better job in the second half controlling the line of scrimmage,” said PH coach Inselmann.

Second half of season presents major test for PH, starting with Bryan

The second half of the season will present a stern test for Bill Inselmann’s Patrick Henry program with the NWOAL’s top five teams dotting the Patriots’ schedule. The rugged stretch begins Friday at home vs. Bryan.
Trips to Wauseon and Liberty Center follow before hosting Delta in week nine while league frontrunner Archbold will await the Patriots in the regular season finale.
“To be frank with you, we’ve got the toughest league schedule,” said Inselmann. “And the reason is quite simple: we don’t have an off week. We’ve got the five best teams in the league five weeks in a row.

Unbeatens Grove and PH set for early-season test

A dandy non-conference clash will lead Columbus Grove and Patrick Henry into next week’s conference season with the Bulldogs and Patriots meeting Friday night at PH.
A 2-0 Grove squad will make the trek north to tangle with the 2-0 Patriots in a matchup of teams that have both played in the Final Four the last two seasons – PH in 2019 in D-VII and Grove last year in D-VI.
Both teams feature new looks on offense this season.
